Mosaics 2C-Outdoor Mosaics (MAR 8 and 15, 2024 mornings)
Two sessions, Friday Mar 8 and 15, 2024, 9 am to noon.
Do you have a space or wall in your yard that screams for a mosaic?
In this advanced BEGINNER class, you will learn how to create and apply a mosaic on an outdoor surface. You learn the techniques in the classroom, (such as how to use fiberglass MESH), but you will do the work on your own outdoor surface. (using your own broken ceramics or tiles) and then apply it to a flat substrate.
You learn how to:
- Design a mosaic for the outdoors.
- Apply tesserae directly to the wall, when possible.
- Create a PORTABLE flat mosaic with mesh when necessary.
- Apply flat tesserae (tiles, glass, or broken ceramics) directly to your substrate OR transport your mesh mosaic to the substrate.
- Use the appropriate adhesive and grout.
NOTE: I said last month, "This is REALLY the last time I'll teach this class" but it's back one last time in March. Students will need to supply their own materials and tools (compound nippers). The registration fee includes instruction, handouts, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and some mesh and adhesives (for practice). We will create an outdoor mosaic at Blue Raven Art School. Your post-class "homework" is to create your own mosaic at home.
If you are not sure if you are advanced enough, please email the instructor before registering.
STUDENTS BRING: Shortly after you register, the instructor will email you with detailed instructions on how the class will proceed, what materials & tools to buy and bring, and how to prep the materials. You will need to bring your own compound nippers.
Two sessions; total class time 6 hours.
Price $89
LIMITED to 6 participants. Minimum age 18.
Classes taught at Blue Raven Art School (720 E Prince Rd).
Class and workshop registration fees are non-refundable. If you miss a class, you can take another of the same value within 3 months of the original one or give it to someone else. However, you need to send me an email to make these changes.
