Mosaics 1B-Using Found and Personal Items (TBA)
MONTH XX and XX, 9 am to noon.
Give a new life to the personal mementos that you can’t bear to part with in a personal mosaic!
In this class, you create a personalized wall-hanging mosaic using the direct method of mosaics on MDF, applying art glass and a small amount of your personal 'bling' with different adhesives.
You learn to:
- Prepare your substrate
- Apply 3D tesserae with appropriate adhesives
- Use glass cutters/scorers and wheeled nippers
- Grout and finish your mosaic
This class is primarily for beginners or for any artist that wants to try a new medium or technique. Registration fee includes instruction, use of tools, a substrate, glass scraps, and adhesives. The instructor will send a reminder email in the week before class.
STUDENTS BRING: A small amount (1 cup) of your personal bling, like broken jewelry, gems, chains, anything metal (belt buckles, buttons, watch parts, small gears, etc.), and beads, colored glass, etc., but no plastic. Glass scraps (optional) if you want particular colors, which can be purchased by the pound at Tucson Stained Glass, enough to cover a 5x7" substrate.
Two sessions; total class time 5+ hours.
