Mosaics 3B-Tapestry Method-Advanced (NOV 10 and 17, mornings)
Have you learned the Tapestry Method, but would like to try more complex designs?
In this class, you create a custom abstract tapestry mosaic on an 9x12" wood substrate, applying your personal 'bling' tesserae with premixed, colored thin set.
You will learn how to:
- Create your own design (with help from the instructor)
- Prepare the lightweight substrate
- Apply premixed thin set and different colorants with appropriate adhesives
This class is for INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED mosaic students who have completed Mosaics 3A (Beginner's Tapestry) or a similar class. Registration fee includes instruction, use of tools, a substrate, and adhesives. The instructor will send a reminder email in the week before class.
STUDENTS BRING: You must bring your own bling (about 2-4 cups or baggies) like broken jewelry, gems, chains, anything metal (belt buckles, buttons, watch parts, small gears, etc.), and beads, colored glass, etc., but no plastic. You can bring your own cement colorants, as well. They can be purchased locally at Tucson Stained Glass or online. You will have the opportunity to work on this at home if you have the materials and tools.
Two sessions; total class time 5+ hours.
