Mosaics 2B-Using Tile or Glass with Mesh (MAR 12 and 19, mornings)
Have you wondered how artists make large and/or portable mosaics, especially for the outdoors?
In this class, you learn these techniques via the INDIRECT method. You will design your mosaic on fiberglass MESH (using your own art glass or tiles) and then apply it to a substrate of your choice, like a tabletop, trivet, or even a garden wall.
You learn how to:
- Create a PORTABLE mosaic with mesh
- Use flat tesserae (tile or art glass)
- Use tile nippers and scorers
- Attach the portable mosaic to a substrate of your choice (table top, wall, etc.)
This class is primarily for advanced beginners or for any artist that wants to try a new medium or technique. Registration fee includes instruction, use of tools, and adhesives.
STUDENTS BRING: Your own tesserae (FLAT tiles or art glass scraps) and a substrate. A week before class, the instructor will email you with tips on what to buy and bring.
Two sessions; total class time 5+ hours.
LIMITED to 4 participants. Minimum age 18.
Classes taught at Blue Raven Art School (720 E Prince Rd).
Class and workshop registration fees are non-refundable. If you miss a class, you can take another of the same value within 3 months of the original one or give it to someone else. However, you need to send me an email to make these changes.
