Mosaics 2C-Outdoor Mosaics with Mesh (AUG 12 and 19, mornings)
Two sessions, Friday AUG 12 and 19, 9 am to noon.
Have you wondered how artists make large and/or portable mosaics, especially for the outdoors?
In this INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED class, you will design your mosaic on fiberglass MESH (using your own art glass or tiles) and then apply it to a flat substrate of your choice, like a tabletop, trivet, or even a garden wall. This is your chance to create an outdoor mosaic for your personal wall space or for a table top.
You learn how to:
- Create a PORTABLE flat mosaic with mesh
- Apply tesserae (tile OR art glass) with the appropriate adhesive, and
- Attach the portable mosaic to a flat substrate of your choice (table top, garden wall, etc.)
This class is for INTERMEDIATE or ADVANCED students who have their own tools. Registration fee includes instruction, use of classroom tools, and adhesives. There may be homework!!! If you are not sure if you are advanced enough, please email the instructor before registering.
STUDENTS BRING: Your own tesserae (FLAT tiles or art glass scraps), non-alkaline mesh, and a substrate, if applicable. When you register, the instructor will email you with detailed instructions on how the class will proceed and what to buy and bring.
Two sessions; total class time 5+ hours.
