Intermediate Mosaic Paintings - (10/20-11/17, mornings)
This class is offered by The Art Institute, Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (ASDM)

Have you taken “Mosaic Paintings of the Desert?” Do you feel ready to create a mosaic from one of your nature photos? In this advanced class, you create a 10x12" mosaic with your own photo, using the double-direct method and specialized glass cutting techniques. Before the first session, the instructor will email guidance on selecting and preparing your photo. Then, in the first session, you will calculate how much of each color of glass you need to purchase for your project. Because each photo is unique, STUDENTS PROVIDE THEIR OWN ART GLASS. All other materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided.
No open-toed shoes or open beverage containers. Note, too, that glass cutting and nipping requires considerable hand strength. Aprons are recommended. Students must use their own photos, (or copyright-free ones or have written permission to use someone else’s).
This class consists of five 3-hour sessions.
Masks are required in all indoor areas whether someone is vaccinated or not.
Andrea Edmundson is an artist that has endured many unproductive or poorly organized art and crafts classes. She understands what students need to be motivated and how they prefer to develop their artistic skills. “Being an effective instructor doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice artistic inspiration; it just means you need to know how to reach your adult learners.”
REGISTRATION will be with the ASDM Art Institute, NOT on this website.
