Workshop-Mixed Media Mosaic with Clear Art Glass (JUN 11 and 18, mornings)
FRIDAYS, JUN 11 (Part 1, 9am-noon) and JUN 18 (Part 2, 9 am-noon)
What looks like a beautiful mosaic but isn’t really a mosaic?
In this 2-session workshop, you will create your own multimedia collage on a wooden tray and then apply textured or patterned clear art glass over it and then finish it using colorful grout.
You learn to:
- Create a mixed media collage substrate
- Use a technique similar to using tempered glass (watch this video)
- Apply clear tesserae with No-Days adhesive – a good way to use up clear art glass
- Grout with multiple colored grout(s), if desired
This class is for INTERMEDIATE mosaic artists - those who already know how to cut and nip glass. Registration fee includes instruction, use of tools, a 12" x12" tray substrate, clear art glass scraps, and appropriate adhesives.
STUDENTS BRING: You will bring materials needed to make a colorful collage (paints, pictures, stickers, etc. plus acrylic paints of your choice and paint brushes as needed). The instructor will send an email in the week before class with a list of suggested materials for your collage. HINT: Collage materials must be flat and no cloth or fibers.
Two sessions; total class time 6 hours.
LIMITED to 4 participants. This is a one-time only workshop. Minimum age 18.
Class taught at Blue Raven Art School (720 E Prince Rd). Some Covid-19 protocols still in place.
