We live in a desert filled with colorful wildlife. In this class, you will create an 8"x10" mosaic of either Gambel's quail or the Northern cardinal, using the double-direct method of mosaics with photos. Mosaic artist Andrea Edmundson will teach you how to modify photos for mosaics and how to cut, nip, and shape art glass, including how to create unique "brush strokes" for natural looking mosaics. You will learn how to prepare substrates, apply tesserae, and grout and finish your pieces. "Repeat" students will be given more challenging projects.
Tools, art glass, and safety equipment are provided. Note, too, that glass cutting and nipping requires considerable hand strength. Aprons are recommended.
This class consists of five 3-hour sessions.
Instructor Bio
Andrea Edmundson is an artist that has endured many unproductive or poorly organized art and crafts classes. She understands what students need to be motivated and how they prefer to develop their artistic skills. “Being an effective instructor doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice artistic inspiration; it just means you need to know how to reach your adult learners.”
REGISTRATION will be with the ASDM Art Institute, NOT on this website.
