Natural Mosaic Flowers - (12/1-12/15, mornings)
This class is offered by The Art Institute, Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (ASDM)
For details and to REGISTER, visit: ASDM Art Institute
In this advanced class, you create an 10x12” mosaic with your own photo, using the double-direct method and additional specialized glass cutting techniques. Students must use their own photos, copyright-free ones, or have written permission to use someone else’s.
Because each flower image is unique and the class is brief, STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE and BRING THEIR OWN ART GLASS to the first session. All other materials, tools, and safety equipment are provided. No open-toed shoes or open beverage containers are allowed. Note, too, that glass cutting and nipping requires considerable hand strength. Aprons are recommended. COMPUTER ARE SKILLS REQUIRED TO MODIFY / PREPARE THE FLOWER IMAGE.
- Before the first session, the instructor will send guidance on 1.) selecting and preparing your flower photo on a computer and 2.) calculating how much glass you need to bring to the first session.
- During the session, there will be homework, so students must have access to a glass cutter, running pliers, and wheeled glass nippers.
This class consists of three 4-hour sessions.
Masks are required in all indoor areas whether someone is vaccinated or not.
Andrea Edmundson is an artist that has endured many unproductive or poorly organized art and crafts classes. She understands what students need to be motivated and how they prefer to develop their artistic skills. “Being an effective instructor doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice artistic inspiration; it just means you need to know how to reach your adult learners.”
REGISTRATION will be with the ASDM Art Institute, NOT on this website.
