This class is for those who want to explore the basics of mosaic art by creating a small hummingbird mosaic. You will learn to:
- Use mosaic terminology and glass shaping techniques.
- Use the direct method of mosaics.
- Follow a process to create your mosaic, primarily using scrap glass.
- Apply glass tesserae to the pattern and grout the mosaic.
All tools and materials supplied. True beginners must use a pattern provided by the instructor; more confident participants can modify the pattern. And remember, the class is about learning the technique, NOT about creating a Monet!
NOTE: Mosaic art requires considerable hand strength. Aprons are highly recommended. No open shoes or open food or beverage containers…Glass can fly everywhere!
Instructor Bio
Andrea Edmundson is an artist that has endured many unproductive or poorly organized art and crafts classes. She understands what students need to be motivated and how they prefer to develop their artistic skills. “Being an effective instructor doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice artistic inspiration; it just means you need to know how to reach your adult learners.”
REGISTRATION will be with the ASDM Art Institute, NOT on this website.
